The Alabama Emergency Management Agency said Monday, Oct. 5, that a tropical depression is likely to form by Wednesday, with heavy rainfall expected this weekend along the far southern sections of Alabama, Louisiana and Florida.

In an update issued at 1:30 p.m. Monday, AEMA said the chance of tropical development was 60% by Wednesday and 80% after Wednesday. The agency said the system’s future track and intensity before landfall remain uncertain.

AEMA said a Flood Watch remained in effect for Geneva and Houston counties until 7 p.m. Monday. The agency reported that most precipitation had ended in far southeastern Alabama, with up to an additional half-inch expected through the afternoon.

The agency also said early Monday afternoon that radar at Mobile, Tallahassee, Fort Rucker and Eglin Air Force Base was again disseminating data. The update was written by Jim Stefkovich, AEMA meteorologist.
